2009-2010 School Year
August 14, 2009
Dear Educator:
From the National Churchill Museum, welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! For those of you who do not know us, we are one of the only world history museums in the state of Missouri, examining history from the end of the 19th century to the Cold War using Churchill’s life as a thread of continuity. Our education program has been in place for a little over two years now. Every day we try to expand the current curricula with additional fun, educational lesson plans and activities that you can use in the classroom.
This year you will see more of us in the schools. New programs we have added include school in-services; classroom presentations; shorter, more effective classroom activities (coming soon); and a teacher e-newsletter (beginning September 1). Our goal this year is to provide educators with the necessary tools to integrate Winston Churchill into your already busy classroom schedule. On the following page, you will find our 2009-2010 events calendar for teachers and students.
For more information on any of these educational events (and to see our public programming calendar), please click on School Programs to see all of our onsite and outreach curricula, a list of children’s books, other online games/activities, and teacher professional development opportunities.
Please call or e-mail me if you have questions, want more information, or want to schedule a field trip! I also have CDs available with all of our curricula, free of charge. Let me know if you would like copies!
If you would like to receive educational updates and other teacher/student activity information via our bi-monthly teacher e-newsletter, please send me your email address.
I look forward to working with you and your students. It is going to be a great year!
Sincerely,
Mandy Plybon
